Teach English Online and Get Paid

The economy is changing and you might be wondering at a time like this how you can make money online? If you have a good command of English or have any academic background then you must create a plan to start your own online English teaching business. What I mean by this is to encourage or inspire you to do it.

In this article, I will try to elaborate on some basic steps to start your journey.

Step number one is to choose a domain name. and make your website. Select a domain of your website. I recommend you to use Bluehost for this purpose. There are many other sources you can get this from but I think this one is best.

Step number two is to define your target English learners. What type of students will you be teaching? Some helpful tips are

  • Are you teaching adults? Are you teaching kids?
  • Are you teaching grammar?
  •  Are you teaching accent reduction?
  • Are you just teaching simple conversation classes?
  • Are you teaching one-to-one lessons?
  • Are you teaching group lessons?

You need to kind of do a little bit of brainstorm, figure out who it is who you want to teach, and then carry on from there.

Step number three, After you define your target learners next step is you want to choose a social media platform that you plan to promote your content on. Are you going to be offering English content on Instagram youtube facebook twitter maybe even tick tock?

Step number Four since you will be teaching English online. You need to choose the software that you will be delivering your instruction on. So most common options include skype for one-to-one teaching or tutoring or zoom for group classes. You can also take a look at google hangout or if you plan to just do audio. Only lessons you can research different voice call apps like WhatsApp for example.

Step number five is to determine your hourly rates and expect to initially start offering free lessons in order to collect students. So determining your hourly rates is definitely going to depend on the niche that you choose.

Step number six, You need to develop a promotional strategy to promote your website. So that people can find you. you should use paid options that can include running Facebook ads or maybe putting up local flyers in your own community to promote your website. You building a website does not mean that people are going to find it and start signing up for lessons right away you have to do hard work for it.

This article is really just scratching the surface of the steps you can take to start independent teaching and not working for a company but I hope it helped you.
